The turbulent history of creating, throwing out, and then re-creating S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 – continued. This time it is about something many have suspected since it was revealed that the revived GSC Game World took the sequel to the iconic survival shooter on the drawing board again.
The game will run on Unreal Engine 4 – it is not very surprising, suspicions about it have been circulating on the web for a long time, but this time we have it officially presented on the game’s Twitter account. As you can read from the information, the developers did not plan to disclose the use of the Unreal Engine at this point, but apparently some leak from Epic Games meant that there was nothing to hide.
Thus, for the first time in the series’ life, the new game will be powered by a licensed graphics engine
It is known that the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was supposed to be – like the number one and additions – to be built on the basis of the proprietary engine, but since then the project has been restarted from scratch. What is more potentially worrying is the suggestion that the developers will talk about the platforms / stores that the game is to hit later. May it not be another “temporary exclusive” for Epic Games Store.
The premiere of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 still not disclosed. When the game was presented again a few years ago, it was predicted to be released in 2021 – since then any mention of any date or time slot has been removed from all content.
